Fun story — right after I got this bag, I went to Hamburg to see my favorite band, alt-J. Right when the show ended, I realized that the person who was in front of me the whole time had exactly the same bag in the same color. I swear, s**t like happens to me all the time.

Side note: this review isn’t sponsored by Bellroy. I purchased all products myself.

So much to like about the Lite Sling

There’s a lot I — and probably that stranger in Hamburg — like about the Lite Sling. It stays true to its name, weighing just 220g. Ultralight materials used by Bellroy also make the sling rollable and foldable, so it’s perfect to store in a backpack or a suitcase when traveling and take it out when you arrive at your destination.

The bag offers plenty of room and smart organization that Bellroy is known for. The front pocket (decorated with Bellroy’s logo and bicycle light loop) is perfect for storing flat objects like small wallets, flat power banks or a protein bar. There are two smaller pockets inside that perfectly fit my MagSafe Battery Pack and my Bellroy Card Pocket wallet. Similar to the Classic Backpack, front pocket also hides a key loop — this time on a more elastic cord!

The main compartment is very spacious and has a very wide opening that can be opened from either side. I can easily fit a rolled long sleeve AIRisim top from Uniqlo, 500 ml Kinto water bottle and a protein bar when I go for an evening hike. If I take out the top, I can also fit my Fujifilm X-T20 with a 27mm lens. The bag can even fit a Nintendo Switch with Joy-Cons attached!

On the left-hand side of the main compartment, there’s a slip pocket that’s perfect size for AirPods Pro or a hand disinfectant. Though I noticed that with more items in the main compartment, items stored in the pocket can slip out. On the back of the sling, there’s a zipped, raised pocket that can be used to store sunglasses. In my case, I use it to keep one or two cables for plugging my phone into shared cars. It’s worth noting that the back of the sling is padded, so any items stored in that pocket shouldn’t bulge out too much.

One really cool hidden feature is that a black label inside of the bag also doubles as a dedicated AirTag pocket. Other Bellroy bags like the Classic Backpack and the Weekender use the same style of label.

Both front and main compartments are protected from the elements with waterproof zippers. I also need to praise Bellroy for these zipper pulls wrapped in heat-shrank plastic. Another thing I love about the Lite Sling is the magnetic strap clasp. It makes it very easy to quickly take off the bag. And last but definitely not least — the strap is designed in such a way that it compresses the bag so it doesn’t stick out when you wear it.

Conclusion

There’s just so much I love about the Lite Sling. I don’t think there was a single week since I got it when I didn’t use it multiple times. If I had to recommend you one Bellroy item to get, that would be it.
